Ramses The Warrior
You have to think Ramses would do something else besides King right? Exactly Ramses was the military leader and a warrior. Ramses was very responsible for protecting Egypt from other intruders. Ramses conducted a very powerful army one that had conquered many people and showed no mercy at all. Ramses also faught a mahor battle against Hitties at Kadesh on the Ontes River. Ramses was one great fighter that will be remembered.
Why Would Workers Work?
Ramses was one of the most celebrated kings. He ruled from 1279 to 1213 B.C. You have to think at some point people would disagree with Ramses for building too many structures. But this was nearly impossible to stop Ramses! Yup I said impossible! Ramses was the military leader and the King. There was no possible way to stop this guy from building if he didn't want to. King Ramses also brought many Libyans as they were frequently moving along the edge of Egypt. Ramses brought these people into the Nile Delta. This was a opportunity for the Libyans, but work must have had been done.
Ramses's Obsessions
Ramses as you have already seen had great obsessions with building monuments and structures. He did this because of he wanted to be remembered. He especially wanted to be remembered for his great army and himself as a warrior. Ramses had many buildings just for him or named after him. Ramses was king so he didn't have to have permission from anyone, he could build all over the place! How would you feel if you were a worker or King Ramses himself!
Ramses Great Monuments
Ramses the 2nd built many great monuments and structures. Many mainly to remember him (the king of Egypt). Ramses believed that the more he built the more he would be remembered. Ramses even stole other structures from people and call them his..think that's crazy! Some of Ramses famous monuments were Abu Simbel,(right) Ramesseum, and the Temple of Ramses(left). These sights attract many visitors today and are unbelievable to see. Many of his citizen would have to work for him for he is the king. Abu simbel was built by Ramses in the 1200's B.C.. It was built into the mountain side with four 67 feet statues of Ramses.
